There is a particular painting by Edward Seago which I recently realized that I have saved or bookmarked so many times. It’s on my phone, my computer, and my Pinterest boards several times. It is a sailboat painting in purple and lavendar greys and soft buttercream yellows. I’m drawn to it because I know exactly the type of sky and water that Seago saw and I feel like I could have been there as well. That’s what I consider a successful painting. This scene is a bit deeper in hue, but it reminds me a bit of that palette.
