I didn’t get to paint this one en plein air, because I was driving back home from Florida when I saw this scene. I didn’t realize what was causing this unusual appearance of the sun at the time, but later found that it was probably the Canadian wildfires. The sun was a magenta sliver, just peeking out of grey skies. I tried to stay on the interstate, while taking a few mental pictures, then I painted it the next day after unpacking.
